FIELDS
Becoming is composed of several entangled operative machines called “Fields”. These fields run parellel to the publishing label, each extending and twisting our editorial line in unique ways, forming what we call a cascading editorial spiral.
Each field deals with different kinds of media and expression, including digital editorials, music, radio and film.
Eternal/Return
Eternal/Return [être] is our recording label; it is a triadic assemblage composed of radio, editorial and label. The label is currently running, and we are accepting submissions for the label. The radio is also operating in a basic form, and we will soon announce an open call for radio submissions. The editorial side is in development again, as we decided to stop our internal “Becoming Magazine” and pursue a magazine dedicated to music, through Eternal/Return.

SWERVE
In the beginning, Becoming operated mainly as an online platform, publishing all kinds of immaterials, from essays to video art. At some point, after several convolutions, Becoming split into several domains. We designed Swerve magazine to take over the role of our virtual publishing space for digital editorials, functioning as an online magazine. Swerve magazine, in a way, acts as the undercurrents of Becoming’s editorial spiral, a testing ground for developing our ideas, and a space for our community to contribute to our overall direction.

Just before we began publishing books, people began submitting films for Becoming to host; something we never anticipated. In order to not miss out, we developed a basic screening room where people could watch these films. When Becoming split into several domains, we needed to create a dedicated platform for these films, as we felt very attached to these submissions, and wanted to push far beyond simple hosting/archiving. We have since opened a collaboration with some of the contributors, and we are working together to develop a platform that is dedicated to internet film, and we hope to bring out a manifesto for the project. For now, the films can be viewed on our vimeo channel. The project was named *coming soon* as a placeholder, but throughout our conversations, we realised this placeholder may well capture something essential to the project, and may well remain the name in the future.
