Baudrillard

After the Orgy

At times Achim Szepanski is sometimes taken as a contraversial writer, but their 30 year history of work in the music industry with Force Inc. and Mille Plateaux, and decades of scholarship makes them someone quite admirable. While pessimism is typically a culturally conservative thing, Szepanski often presents what might be called a radical left pessimism. They have spent several years dwelling in Baudrillard, and the two make a fitting pair.

We republished this text from our friends at NON, of which Szepanski is an organizer, because its a good introduction into Szepanski’s work, which primarily focuses now on Speculative Finance. Szepanski will soon release a book with Palgrave called “The Ecstasy of Speculation” in German, but there are plans underway for a translation.
